A Chicken, A Chance, A New Beginning

Just 11 months ago, Clemantina Muhawe was abandoned by her husband—left to give birth to their third child alone. After suffering severe postpartum bleeding, she was discharged from the hospital too soon. With no food, no support, and a newborn in her arms, Clemantina was barely surviving.
One day, while walking to get her baby vaccinated, she collapsed from hunger and blood loss. Weak and disoriented, she woke up in a hospital bed, feeling forgotten by the world. But God had not forgotten her.
A compassionate member of our partner’s team found Clemantina and stepped in with food, care, and love. That moment changed everything.
Her recovery has been slow—but steady. Her baby, now 11 months old, is still underweight, but they are no longer alone. Hope has returned.
“Before, I had nothing,” Clemantina says. “Now, I have a small start—a chicken. It may seem small, but to me, it’s a sign of possibility. When it lays eggs, my child will have something nourishing to eat—something I couldn’t offer before. It’s not everything, but it’s hope. It’s dignity. I’m no longer stuck in survival—I’m walking toward a future.”
The best part? When she asked why strangers would help her, the answer opened the door to the gospel. “Because of Jesus,” she was told. “We’re simply doing what He would do.”
To you—our donors—Clemantina says, “Thank you from the deepest part of my heart. You didn’t just give food—you gave me the strength to keep going.”
Because of your love, Clemantina’s story didn’t end in despair—it began again in hope.
