Breaking the Brick Cycle

Day in and day out 11-year-old Sita makes bricks. Living in a small village in Nepal, Sita and her family belong to the Hindu Musher community and are considered untouchables. They cannot own any land and are at the mercy of those they labor for.

Paid per brick, it’s critical that each family member contributes. Sita, her parents, and three siblings make under $6 per day, which barely covers their basic needs such as food and shelter. While she desired to help support her family, Sita so badly wanted to learn to read and write–a dream that felt hopeless.

Because of the necessity of her labor, she is not able to attend day-time school;  however, thanks to you, Sita now regularly attends a Heaven’s Family-sponsored child development center in the evenings where she is eagerly learning to read and write. The center also shares the gospel and the love of God with the children.

Your support is helping plant seeds of salvation not only in the children’s lives but in their families lives as well as the children take home what they are learning. Sita said, “When I couldn’t learn, I had no hope for the future. Now I have hope to learn skills to sustain my life. Thank you for helping me attend this center and get an education. My family and I are thankful to God for providing this program.”

For generations Sita’s family has been stuck in a cycle of poverty, but with your help, we are praying and believing she will break it.
