Shamiso’s Second Chance

When Shamiso was just a young teenager, her world began to fall apart. Her family could no longer afford her school fees which led to constant humiliation as she was repeatedly sent home and mocked by classmates.
Then, in 2020, her father left home in search of work—and never returned. Her mother, with no income or support, struggled to care for Shamiso and her five siblings. At just 13 years old, Shamiso ran away, seeking refuge in the streets and mountains around Chigodora, a community in Zimbabwe.
Her life became a nightmare. She survived by digging through trash for food, sleeping on lice-infested blankets, and enduring constant sexual abuse. She was abandoned, hungry, and alone. In December 2023, she became pregnant. The father denied responsibility and disappeared.
But God was not finished with Shamiso’s story.
Through your support, Shamiso was rescued and given a second chance. She now has a safe place to sleep, warm meals, and most of all—hope. She’s learning to sew, bake, and make household products that help her earn an income without compromising her dignity.
Shamiso, now 16, is not only caring for her baby girl—she’s dreaming again. Slowly, through counseling and her faith, she’s working toward forgiveness and healing. She’s also growing spiritually, taking part in Bible study and prayer. Her relationship with Jesus is blossoming.
Shamiso shares, “I now feel like a human being again. I sleep on a bed, eat warm food, and can breathe. I’m so grateful. It’s only God who could do such a miracle.”
To you, Shamiso says, “Thank you for giving me the chance to amend my ways. I will not disappoint you.”
Because of your compassion, Shamiso’s story is no longer one of sorrow—but one of transformation, faith, and hope.
